Just For Kids

The Brownsville Public Library System has Internet computers just for kids at both library branches.  Located in the Children’s section, the Kids Internet Computers offer all children an opportunity to experience a safe and educational experience on the Web.
As part of this service, the library has created a special Web site called Kidsnet that is just for kids. It is a window to the world for all children to enjoy. In complying with federal law and the Children's Internet Protection Act, the Brownsville Public Library System takes Internet safety for children very seriously.

All Internet computers provide audio headphones. Children may print pages; print-outs are ten cents ($.10) per black and white page and twenty five cents ($.25) per color page. Children are asked to sign in with an adult at the Children's Desk. Children are allowed 30 minutes to use the computer or one hour to work on homework.

Parents are asked to sign in their children at the Children’s Desk, and remember that all children have an equal opportunity on the Web; therefore timed sessions are a necessity with children doing homework getting a one hour session, and children using the Internet for “play-time” getting a 30 minute session.  So come take a seat in front of one of the computers and let your imagination sore!
The library has StoryTime at each library location.  This program is designed for younger children and is a great way to introduce the library and reading to them. For more information click here.
